1. Who we are
Mizzen Studios operates InstantQuote at trades-quote.online. For personal data processed to operate and improve the Service, Mizzen Studios is the controller. When a tradesperson enters customer information, that tradesperson is responsible for having a lawful basis to use and share it.
2. Information we process
Depending on how you use InstantQuote, information may include:
- Business and catalogue data: business name, contact details, service names, units and prices.
- Quote data: customer name, email and address; quote number, dates, line items, quantities, tax rate, notes and totals.
- Logo: an image you choose for a Pro quote.
- Billing and entitlement data: a random browser installation identifier, Stripe checkout and subscription identifiers, plan and subscription status, and timestamps. We do not receive or store your full card number.
- Technical data: requests to our hosting and billing services may include IP address, user agent, timestamps, requested URL and security logs.
- Analytics data: only after consent, Google Analytics 4 may process page views, approximate location derived from IP, device/browser information, referrer and limited product events such as PDF download or checkout start. We do not intentionally send quote contents, customer details, logo contents or service prices to GA4.
3. Browser and localStorage processing
InstantQuote is browser-first. Your editable service catalogue and business details are stored in your browser using localStorage. A random installation ID, Free-plan monthly PDF count, Pro checkout-session reference and analytics-consent choice may also be stored locally. The logo is used in memory for the current quote and is not saved in the stored draft.
Customer details are used in the current browser session and are deliberately removed from the locally saved draft. Refreshing, clearing site data, using private browsing, or changing device or browser may remove local information and can prevent us from recognising a browser-based Pro entitlement.
You can remove locally stored information in your browser’s site-data settings. Essential storage is necessary for the requested quote-builder, usage-meter and entitlement features and does not require analytics consent.
4. Do CSVs, documents or quote data leave your device?
InstantQuote does not currently import or export CSV files. PDF generation happens in your browser: the quote data and logo used to build the PDF do not need to be uploaded to our server. The PDF leaves your device only when you choose to send, upload or otherwise share the downloaded file.
When you click “Copy share link”, the quote data needed to display the read-only quote—including customer details, line items and notes—is encoded directly into the URL in your browser. The link is not uploaded to an InstantQuote quote database, but it will leave your device when you paste, message or open it, and it may be recorded by recipients, browsers, communications services or network logs. Anyone with the URL can read its contents until expiry and may copy them. Logos are omitted from share URLs.
Do not include sensitive information in quote notes or shared links. Use a more secure delivery method if a quote contains information that should not be accessible to anyone who receives the URL.
5. No-account use, Pro, and Stripe payments
You can use the Free plan without creating an account. Pro is linked to a random browser installation identifier and a server-side entitlement record rather than a traditional user profile.
If you purchase Pro, we send the installation ID and purchase context to Stripe. Stripe collects and processes payment, billing and fraud-prevention information under its own privacy policy. Stripe returns identifiers and subscription/payment status that we use to activate and maintain Pro. Firebase/Google Cloud stores the hashed installation reference, entitlement and limited webhook-processing records.
6. Analytics cookies and consent
Google Analytics 4 is disabled until you choose “Allow analytics” in the consent banner. If you decline, the choice is saved locally and GA4 is not loaded. If you consent, Google’s analytics script may set or read analytics cookies or similar identifiers and process the analytics data described above. IP anonymisation is requested in our configuration.
You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing InstantQuote site data in your browser and selecting “No thanks” when the banner appears again. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before it. We do not use advertising cookies or sell personal information.
7. Why we use information and our legal bases
- To provide the quote builder, PDF, sharing and Pro features you request: performance of our contract or steps at your request.
- To process subscriptions, confirm entitlements and keep billing records: performance of contract and compliance with legal obligations.
- To secure, troubleshoot and prevent abuse of the Service: our legitimate interests in operating a safe and reliable service.
- To understand use and improve the Service through GA4: your consent, which you can withdraw.
- To establish, exercise or defend legal claims and comply with lawful requests: legitimate interests or legal obligation, as applicable.
8. Service providers, disclosure and international transfers
We use service providers including Google Firebase/Google Cloud for hosting, server functions and entitlement storage; Stripe for checkout, subscriptions and fraud prevention; and, only with consent, Google Analytics 4. These providers process information under their own terms and data-protection commitments and may process data outside the United Kingdom.
Where UK personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on an adequacy regulation or appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement/Addendum, as applicable. We may also disclose information if legally required, to protect rights or safety, or in connection with a business reorganisation subject to appropriate protection.
9. Retention
Local browser data remains until you clear it, the browser removes it, or the Service replaces it. Customer data in an unsaved working quote normally lasts only for the page session, except when you put it into a share URL or downloaded PDF. An encoded link contains its data for as long as a copy of that URL exists, although InstantQuote refuses to display it after its embedded expiry date.
Pro entitlement and billing-event records are kept for as long as needed to provide the subscription, resolve disputes, prevent fraud and meet tax, accounting and legal requirements. Hosting and security logs are kept for provider-configured operational periods. GA4 retention follows our analytics-property settings and Google’s processing terms.
10. Your data-protection rights
Depending on the law that applies, you may have rights to access, correct or erase personal data; restrict or object to processing; receive portable data; and withdraw consent. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or to your local supervisory authority.
Much of the quote data is controlled only by your browser, so we cannot retrieve or delete it for you. You can clear it directly through browser settings. To exercise rights over server-side information, contact us and provide enough detail to identify the relevant browser installation or transaction without sending payment-card data.
11. Security and children
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures intended to protect information, including HTTPS, restricted billing endpoints, signed Stripe webhooks and hashed entitlement document identifiers. No online service is completely secure; you are responsible for protecting devices and shared URLs.
InstantQuote is a business tool for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect children’s personal data through the Service.
